Ama Codjoe
Ama Codjoe is the author of Bluest Nude (Milkweed Press, 2022), winner of the 2023 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, and Blood of the Air (Northwestern University Press, 2020), winner of the Drinking Gourd Chapbook Poetry Prize.
Among other honors, Codjoe has received a 2023 Whiting Award in Poetry, the 2017 Rona Jaffe Writer’s Award, a creative writing fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship.
Codjoe is the former director of the DreamYard Art Center in the South Bronx where she taught and directed arts and social justice programming for young people, as well as leading professional development for educators and administrators. Codjoe lives in New York, New York, and continues to work in social justice and the arts.
