Robin Behn
Robin Behn is the author of five poetry collections: Quarry Cross (MadHat Press, 2018); The Yellow House (Spuyten Duyvil, 2011); Horizon Note (University of Wisconsin Press, 2001); The Red Hour (HarperPerennial, 1993); and Paper Bird (Texas Tech University Press, 1988), as well as two chapbooks, including the chapbook and traveling exhibit, Requiem for the Innocent: El Paso and Beyond (George F. Thompson Publishing, 2020).
Behn is the editor of a new resource for young writers, Once Upon a Time in the Twenty-First Century: Unexpected Exercises in Creative Writing (University of Alabama Press, 2020), and a coeditor of The Practice of Poetry: Writing Exercises from Poets Who Teach (HarperCollins, 2013).
Behn has been awarded the Brittingham Prize in Poetry from the University of Wisconsin Press and the Narrative Poetry Prize from the New England Review. She has received grants from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as from the state arts councils of Alabama and Illinois. She is also a distinguished resident at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program.
Behn teaches in the MFA program in creative writing at the University of Alabama, where she was presented with the Burnum Award, the university’s most distinguished faculty award, and lives in Birmingham.
